YFC Australia is part of Youth for Christ International, an inter-denominational, non-profit organisation operating in over 80 countries. We are completely comitted to offering the best possible alternatives to Australian young people so that they can reach their God-given potential physically, relationally, emotionally and spiritually. We work with local churches to tackle issues relevant to young people including goal-setting, drug abuse, sexuality, and suicide and self esteem. Each year in Australia over 50,000 young people are impacted through our ministry.

The Youth for Christ movement was born in America in the mid-1940's. God touched dozens of leaders around the country with a concern to reach out to those young people that normal church channels were missing. Dynamic young evangelists using revolutionary methods began conducting lively mass rallies in more than a dozen cities, often under a common name, Youth for Christ. By November 1944, it was clear that some organization should be formed to handle the growing flood of requests to start new rallies. A Chicago pastor, Torrey Johnson, was elected chairman of a temporary committee. He opened an office in Chicago and asked Billy Graham to become the first full-time Youth for Christ worker. Less than a year later, Youth for Christ International, Inc., was formally incorporated.

Youth for Christ is working in over 100 nations with 80 of these officially chartered. Worldwide there are approximately 2000 full-time staff and 22,000 part-time and volunteer staff. Youth for Christ in Australia came into being in the late 1940's and over the years found many ways to express its love and concern for the young people of Australia. The earliest work included large rallies and camps. YFC constantly seeks new and exciting ways to bring Christ's compassion and grace to the next generation.YFC Australia runs welfare programs, high school ministry, adventure based learning and technology based outreach.
