The Leprosy Mission (TLM) is an international Christian
charity, founded in 1874, and now bringing healing and restoration
to some 300,000 people affected by leprosy in 30 countries. The
Mission has 2,300 field staff and works both directly, through
its own hospitals and programmes, and in partnership with churches,
voluntary agencies, patient organisations, governments and international
organisations to meet the broad-ranging needs of people affected
by leprosy. The Mission has an annual budget of £9.35 million
and relies on the contributions of individuals, churches and other
groups to support its international work.
TLM is acting as a determined advocate for the cause of people
affected by leprosy world-wide. TLM is working in 30 countries
world-wide and treats at least 83,000 people with active leprosy
and care after cure to over 100,000 people suffering from the
effects of having had leprosy. Our programmes detect nearly 100
new cases every day and over 13 of these will be children. Last
year TLM provided socio-economic rehabilitation to nearly 50,000
people directly affected by leprosy.
